Time for me to rant....

Sooooo I woke up a couple of days ago did some yoga...talked to my mom..drank some green tea with my breakfast...then opened my laptop and found that facebook disabled my Profile. I just decided to add people I lost contact with when I permanently deleted my first account which had over 1000 friends and people who could have been helpful during clientele droughts and such. Now it could be that someone I knew didn't think it was me and reported it. If thats the case a warning would be in order right. You know.....I sign in to face book...Please verify that you are you blablabla...something....nope. I just couldn't sign in. At all...I just came to a screen saying my profile had been disabled....click here for help...lol

Why did they disable my account....thats like me going back to a girlfriend I dumped just to get dumped by her for no reason....maybe facebook wanted revenge. Social networking revenge...lol

Anyway soooo I don't see myself going back....unless everything gets restored and resolved. You tube maybe my new social networking home....I'll leave you to imagine if they all fuzed..... what they would look like?

Early Challenge Fail

4/31......my art teacher would fail me.......I would laugh...nothing has changed.

I'm sorry everybody but I will no longer be working on this challenge. I'll leave you with captain america because well.......I've never drawn him and some people like him....even though he may be a propaganda force....I don't know.

The only time I felt inspired durring this challenge was when I painted Scott Pilgrim. I'm dealing with some personal junk and I feel like I'm pushing myself tooo hard to drawing highend fan service everyday. Apart of me feels I could be doing way better and my art isn't really moving anyone. If I had a stronger support system like when I was painting my friends it would be alot less stressful.. and High stress is starting to be a problem for me right now...all the last 4 works are more fan service then it is art....so I'll stop trying get attention and focus more on expression because you really only race yourself in life.

I'll fill you in on tomorrows post about what exactly is going on....If I have time...hahahha....just know that I will continue to create and bring to you my expressions by what ever medium necessary....a play on Malcolm X's quote.

The drifting sword master who's technique is sloppy yet so effective. When I first saw the film Ninja Scroll I was around 11 or 12. I would cringe at the bloody battles, laugh at the Dakuwan's pranks and feel Jubei's rage when he finds out the truth about someone. I like to watch this movie every now and then to gather inspiration.... unfortunately I didn't have time to watch it while I was creating because I can't find my DVD.....it's that good. I know one of my peeps is holding it in their dvd player somewhere.

The film is one of the best japanese animations to this day. I haven't seen one that hasn't been influence by it.
I did rush this one so it looks kinda off but well since it's a speed paint it's all good....I think.

Masked Rider aka Kamen Rider RX

There is just something so awesome about this Japanese super hero that got me. I only watched the american version and it resinated with me because come on ....he's a bug. Dex was a prince sent to earth to save the planet from the evil...what ever they are I can't remember the story because I could only focus on the awesome fight scenes. Reason is like the more famous Power Rangers (or Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger) Masked Rider was stolen from the Japanese series called Kamen Rider RX.

He is a worthy hero to me none the less just because when I was a kid I would ride a green bike all over town and at the time when the show premiered I could have sworn they stole it from my life.

I rushed the piece if you noticed because I have to draw today. Guess who is next?

Scott Pilgrim is twenty somthing years old, living in Toronto with his gay roommate and is just trying to get by in this crazy world. He's in a band. He's lazy. He likes video games. He likes the new girl in town, Ramona Flowers, but to win her heart, he has to defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends.

Bryan Lee O'Malley is pretty much the reason why I consider Scott to be a worthy hero.
I recommend everyone to read all six of the books before Hollywood shits on them in a couple days.

The last couple of days I've been drinking and thinking. In 27 days I will be among fans and artists alike signing and sketching. Thats right I'll be at the fanexpo ....but I have no reason why. I have nothing to show anybody there.....

In order to collect some goodies to showcase my skills and talent specifically for this expo I've decided this month is a challenge month. Each day this month I will attempt to create High end renderings of Heros I like but have never drawn.

So This months Challenge is simple and complicated depending on what I choose. I hopefully will raise some eyebrows and learn new techniques that will help me develop and grow as an artist.

Keep it locked and I welcome requests if anybody has ideas.

A piece I created for a friend to celebrate her parents anniversary depicting a moment in their lives that never happened.
I used both photoshop and painter. I kept tabs on my progress and will possibly upload a video explaining my workflow for this image.
I really enjoyed working on the city... unfortunately I got out of hand with the detail of the clouds (what clouds???) and the city was drawing to much attention. so I kept a clear copy of that image and can't wait to put it on my wall after printing it. I'm starting to really like painters grassroots approach in the program. Letting you mix colors and such. I may just buy the full version because they say the Painter Essential series are limited.

Steal "Copy" Everything-Welcome to the Internet

Everybody knows about downloading aka "stealing" or mass sharing of information. However you view our planet you can't disagree that there is something totally wrong with this message. Watch the video.

First thing that struck me is well He has a T-shirt that says GOD on it. The camera keeps God in focus as if God is speaking directly and hey it just so happens to be Kid Rock. I'll let that soak in to your mind for a bit......

So now that we establish that KR is now ..."god" we can move forward..what does god have to say...well He believes the debate of downloading music "illegally" or "stealing it" has gotten out of hand as if everybody has been debating this all over the world....even in underdeveloped countries where they have faith in god the most.

Now I don't enjoy KR's music "like most kids do"....so I can't say I personally know how he got Rich. However there is something about downloading that in my mind makes one rich.

Say your a musician...You have a computer and all the media needed to create the work.....your just missing fans. Well there is something one can do to fix that...offer a free download. Make sure you protect your work by marking it with dated copyrights, signing it and holding on to the high quality version. This eliminates the debate that if someone copy's or claims it to be "their" creation.

Now with that said How does one generate money from offering free downloads...simple one doesn't which is very sad. Once something is on a computer it can be copied. Once something makes it's way on the internet...even if it has the best security and coding to offer....it can be copied. The internet is Information and data. The currency of the internet is information.... the more data the more information. Money is our physical currency. Therefore one can use information to generate money....which I'm very positive is what people have been doing for years.

I can talk for hours about downloading but I would go off on wild tangents in order to justify it and lead most money hungry individuals lost. Lets just focus on downloading music and KR talking shit.

I'm Constantly invited to see an artist/band preform and I am very picky as to who I spend my money on. Going to a live show is an experience that is so awesome. Here is the process....

-I receive an invite.
It always the announcement or advertisement that build up momentum for a show. Flyers handed out by a street team. Posters with what could be considered free artwork on streets lights and walls. The event information is heard from word of mouth. All of the said methods due to the high cost to creating them require planning, time and money. At this moment facebook and other networking sites offer these same services online. Flyers are no longer left on the ground. The only negative thing you would have to deal with is the amount of Yes, No's and maybe's. That levels the playing ground to either you have skills or you don't.

-The Show
Your in a theater watching one of your favorite artists preform among a sum of like minded individuals. Now when you look at this from a fans perspective Live shows are worth money solely depending on how awesome and talented the artists performance is. To an musician .....it's possibly the most terrifying or pleasant feeling...being on stage in front of people who like your work or are interested in you means what goes on stage better sound right, look right or be 10 times better then what they know and heard. If you can measure up to the expectations of your fans or your own work you are worth being paid for basically. Merchandise and CD's can always be available during intermissions and after the show. With most well sold events people will always want something to remember the moment by. Now I can start another argument about artist refusing camera's at shows..saying it's distracting or infringement of copyright..but like this can lead off into another tangent. Main point is there is plenty of money to be made at a event if....you have what the crowd wants....you know win the crowd win freedom to do what ever you want.

Now....Could a free download generate that opportunity for you?

So back to "god" aka KR....There are still those who refuse to think and buy a CD of 30 songs just to hear the one song they love on the radio. This is a response to a problem called Propaganda. Lets not kid around with the definition of the video I posted. It is what it is. There is a blurred american flag in the background, He's a rockstar speaking about a subject that really has no real substance except for some of the values....He has a T-shirt with "GOD" on it...come on sheeple this is tooo easy to deconstruct...it's right in your face.

This video wants you to take what they said out of context...i think. I mean steal everything!!!!

So KR thinks "the kids" (everyone) are right about "stealing" (downloading) his music because he (god) is "fucking rich....so how could I bitch about someone downloading a song or two I really can't". He's right...he also can't say nothing to someone who built a fanbase from free song/album downloads or one who makes huge amounts of money on tour instead of getting screwed over by record companies. They can sleep at night knowing they didn't force anybody to digest the artwork but it is demanded by millions.....I have never forgotten one basic thing about business and that is Low supply High demand make you rich.

I can make more points but lets move on to what I really want to talk about. KR (god) says "lets level the playing field." it's been done already people use the internet. No kids thats not enough "steal everything"!!! I see his point and what could happen is chaos if people take the message in a literal sense which I know most human beings are not.....but like....

This is Reverse Psychology at it's worst! Using a condescending persuasion technique to advocate a small problem which requires attention to the root cause is a waste of breath. So after listing to all the things he wants you to steal and pretty much him giving homage to the companies that either are his benefactors or are on his list of cool people or whatever. (don't get me started on EXON and Tommy hillfigger) He tells the viewer (the kids) to "stay in school and stay of the drugs" pointing to the camera as if he's serious. Almost like he wants the opposite to happen.... quit school and get high...or in my words be uneducated and seek artificial chemicals to satisfy your cravings for illusions and delusions.

Either way the number of people that watched this clip is amazing. The over 2000 that voted on if they like this video is a joke. I was one of the 200 to vote down the video. So lets do the math.....

The video is popular between males 25-54 in the US and Canada.......lol so I'm in that braket hmmm no kids there.
1,033,696 veiws means there are alot of "kids" out there that want to here what he has to say.
However given the message he has to say 2000 or a little more voted and over 3000 commentated.

The Evolution of Dance is the most viewed video on youtube. I brought it up to show that people don't care what KR aka "god" has to say even if he's telling you to steal.

Now imagine we could adapt the internet to our world. Go with imagination on this one. Person A has an apple and eating it. Person B wants the apple. Person B copies the apple and pastes it in his hand. Both are fed.

I don't know if our monetary based world would ever understand this concept because it's soooo simple. However Plants understand this concept very well. Spread the seed feed the need.

Wow I found a box I had that contained my old highschool art tools. After rummaging through them I discovered a very vintage Conte set that my art teacher bestowed to me. I took a small break from the computer did some studies of tone and form. I'll upload more but these freehand attempts felt pretty fun. For the last 5 years I have detached myself away from the television and pop culture to some degree. I have replaced that need for entertainment with a need to know information. The internet has granted me the opportunity to navigate the vast amounts of information and fuel ideas into my mind. I started out winamp watching porn....Then on google listening to college lectures and BBC documentaries.... and then youtube clips of people hurting themselves to Dr.Tran to how to videos and on and on I went consuming and then I began to create my own.
Ninjavideo.net was 1 of the many streaming sites I would frequently visit and use to watch Film and TV programs. I favored the section which had a huge list of documentaries available to view upon clicking.

I will miss it but I will not forget what it stood for......freedom, Unity, Empowerment and Sharing!!!

I've never celebrated a Birthday in the way most people do. I usually reserve celebration for achievements in life or when I score with a fly female..lol

Today I decided to release some energy into the web and it's long over due I guess. If you want to know how creative I am you have to enter my mind which is a pretty hard thing to do. Unless you can speak the universal language of music.

For my 27th birthday I've prepared a download with all my best musical experiments in the last 5 years. I hope you enjoy it or it brings you pleasant thought provoking nightmares.... the main thing I want you to do is let me know if I just wasted the last 5 years making this crap. Most of the selection is rather mysterious and deep like myself. My feelings for life and the conversations I bring up in these pieces are hard to catch if you view my work as beats. Maybe I was self righteous standing on a pale horse. Maybe i realized I gave my gold to pigs. Maybe I lost my mind. Maybe the world is ending and I saw no point in gaining everything if we all lose. Maybe it's just a game and we only have 1 man. Maybe photoshop is better then a raw photo or a sketchbook. Maybe each car you sell adds to pollution. Maybe each thought you sell adds to pollution. Maybe each vibe you sell adds to pollution.

Maybe I need your love and your in a relationship. Maybe each breath I give.... you take without asking. Maybe I'm nuts and you'll make me sain. Maybe my ego is leading me away from you. Maybe I hear every cellphone conversation in the world at once even when I was a kid. Could it be that I was wrong when I departed or are you wrong wanting me back? There are 4 seasons here where I live i just like to remind everyone that spring is a rain and sprout season. Everybody enjoys the fantasy of summer thats why most people where I live flock to sandy beaches. I being born and raised here have adapted to rain, wind, heat and snow however the extreme...well maybe not that extreme. I'm tired of joining in on the hate of natural events.

ok so i'm sitting here doing nothing....just sitting here....nothing. Why...not feeling it. Then I go to check out the blog of Saejin oh and nearly cried...with guilt. How could I say I love art if for the past couple of days I've been sleeping. A wise man once said "Lazy hands make a man poor but Diligent hands bring wealth."

Sure I've been working here and there but seeing the work of Saejin reminds me that I have much to learn about being consistent and professional.

The Tree in my Mind

I am a tree...or I was a tree and i was cut down one day. My body was needed for paper. I was the only tree that was taller then the others and somebody decided I was way too tall and needed to be cut down. In anger my spirit was forced by reasons unknown into a small human body. I was forced to forget everything from the animals who climbed my branches to the leaves i would drop when the weather got cold. However somewhere in my mind was a landscape left to memory and the reason I love trees and will forever respect and admire their silence. They only wish to grow tall and beautiful...at least from my understanding.

Commitment

For 2 years now I've been on a cell phone contract that I'm slowly realizing is not good for my financial health. Which if you know me well I think very deeply and can see the parallels in everything. Commitment is one of those things that can get you in touch with yourself. Sometimes the things I commit to end up panning out to be the worst choices I ever made. However in my observations of life I see that commitments keep most people happy when they have the option to be renewed. It's the idea that your commitments can't grow that keep one from being satisfied wether in a relationship with another human being or trying to shave off the cost of ones small cellphone bill he hardly uses.

I'm seeing alot of encouraging things about people these days as I am able to observe both the good and the bad. Sometimes it's hard not to take sides when people are arguing over being unsatisfied with the other persons commitment. I have played the middle for a while..... It's a lonely life but it's one I embrace. On the other hand keeping the peace is when being in the middle sux. You are always the one nobody trusts because you don't have the balls to join in and help decide the fate of anothers actions. I know this because I have experienced both the victim and the aggressor roles. Both have needs to vent and afterwords advertise propaganda to have a friend join a campaign to rid the bad against them.

Being in the middle is a predicament that requires delicate handling. In my experience (which i'm pretty good at) I pretend i'm stupid to lose attention and let the heartless one reveal themselves. Once that has occurred the imbalance has to be shifted. No point in joining a strong side unless the strong side goes by your agenda right...no. usually it's a negative that wants to grow bigger then it already is faster then the opposing positive side. I lost everybody reading by now. So now comes the gems that real people can understand.

If we are human and claim to be fun loving, positive, playful and happy individuals how come there is so much heart ache. I think one reason is people are biting off more then they can chew. (When I say people I mean the animal agenda) We humans have not learned the lesson to think not only for the self but for others well being. Once you know me and understand me you realize I am you basically. I'm not exactly who you are I am only what you would be if you where me therefore I am who you already are. Now I lost the readers that don't do drugs.

(Speaking of drugs I think the reason we have them so available to us is because our captors know us soooo well. They know most of us had our childhoods robbed from us by design. As a replacement they give us the escape that they created. I shouldn't get started on this idea path because that is soooo debatable among other arguments I am AWARE I am making.)

Back to thinking which is the key to imagination and what should be the base stone of any commitment. Once we think not only for the self but unselfishly for others we open the floor for others to think unselfishly for our self. (Is that the hive mind showing up and expanding our queens borders or is it the tribe mind who is open to the established laws of nature?) When ever I commit to something I am to blame if it goes wrong if I left the planing of that commitment to others.

"I think" that we fear commitment because when we are selfish. We havn't truly learned what it means to think for ourselves..... not our self but "ourselves". You can change my last statement with I and it will still hit you where it needs to.Everything has a force that is driving it. Just because something is free does not mean that it lacks control. (Insert deleted something that most meat and potato christians would send me hate mail for....speaking of hate I have learned that the more energy you put into hating is the more that thing you hate becomes stronger. So if your planing a big hate bomb just remember that and shut the $%#@ up)

Arguing is the ritual that reveals who is the negative.

I believe that commitment has everything to do with building and is the main reason why things are destroyed. All of a sudden everybody is worried about our planet, 2012 and bla bla bla. i have an idea that our planet will be destroyed and rebuilt and we each will be turned into robot clones by our captors to continue our never ending quest to nowhere.....it's just one of the ideas I have about the approaching future.

My cellphone is a waste of money now that I am on my second year on the contract. The ratio of texting and calling is starting to prove that theory I have about the end of days to be true. Nobody calls anybody... just text and text and slowly giving in to the information hoarding of our emerging technological planet.
I use to think that it would be cool to be a robot. To just be able to wipe a bad thought or program from your mind with no memory of it. Thing is if we have all subconsciously committed to this idea of the loss of childhood and the existence of humanity just for new shiny toys to play with....why are we surprised with our result. Why am I not surprised that the thing I never really wanted "cell phone" is the one thing i need now to stay in contact with people who have lost contact with themselves.......OMG LOL FML BBQ

Anyway I'm sure by now you are either lost or happy with what points I've created here. I say most of the points I brought up is some of the most real shit you'll ever hear a creator like me say. If you can't read my words and sense anything negative about them by all means ignore my "fork tongue" if you will.

Fun fact Albert Einstien was born on this day back in 1879. I looked up his name on Google which I've never done and learned about theory of relativity. It's encouraging to think how when you put your mind to anything you are surrounded with that thought...or energy.

To show some of my appreciation for 2 of the most talented people I know from montreal. I decided to finally sketch these to beautiful sisters. Jess (in red) and Liz (with green eyes) are twin sisters who happen to be creative beings. I went through a weird little phase where I was on the brink of giving up art altogether. My uncle saw this and introduced me to the pair and had I not known these 2 to this day I would have just gave up...I think. Regardless of how I would have been now had we never met their influence even while it is distant continues to inspire me to keep pushing on. If you happen to have time check out their blog.

I think over all the paintings turned out but I would like another try at it. Hopefully I can get some better reference images of them. I think each took me about 2 hours.

Is it just me or are we all cut off from meeting eachother. There was a time when I would get on the bus and people would say hello to you in my hometown. Now you only see this if you venture out to the lake and go for a jog. On the bus or late at night.... not one hi or hello unless you know the person. Thats not what I'm concerned with though. I've been feeling that lately that we "art" people are slowly disappearing. Either that or I have been a hermit for so long that when I do venture out I have no idea how to ice break. I use to just bust out my sketch book and like a knight in shinny armor people would just come up to me. Now I take my sketchbook out and people seem to leave me alone. No nods from people passing by. No people interested in what I'm creating. Do I have to bring my laptop and set up shop at the go-station and start painting ....what is it? I think it's because I'm not working hard enough.

Where are the younger artists? Why can't I spot you out in the crowd? Am I the last of my kind or am I just lost? Maybe it's because we are all think the same way. Hide create and wait...thats the kind of vibe I've been on for a while. I feel so alone in the crowd unlike when I was younger when I felt like I was apart of something.....I must be babbling. I think I need to start posting on forums or something?

Formal Art Training

So I have been thinking about returning to school and learning again as it seems to be a trend with people my age who don't feel satisfied with what has transpired from there diploma/degree. However it may be me joining in on "group think" which to me gets schools money and artists in debt.

Ben Mathis is a game artist that I checked out today durring my research time. I read his thoughts about studying art in University and college. Ben is at a level in art that I will be at soon and he shares some of his wisdom on his website.

"Most game studios don't care where you went to college, they simply want to see what you can do. This is mostly because of the fact that many degrees being offered are not an endorsement of skill. It's a nasty cycle. Universities pump out graduates regardless of their skill so that the universities can receive the full tuition. This in turn devalues the degrees (even if the student is very skilled) because the degree was provided regardless of ability."

Why are celebrities called stars?

hmmmmmm random question I know I know but I have asked that question before and I bet your asking it now. The answer is simple. Look up? The stars shine bright and are hard to reach with our simple minds. To most people the roles celebrities play on screen gives us a stimuli that astonishes us just like the universe to astronomers. We all look into the light when we see the stars. We marvel at the beauty and are intrigued by their stories.

Does that mean that we are being forced to observe the happenings in the sky. Could celebrities be exactly what is playing out in the constellations. It's thoughts like this that jump in my mind when I observe friends/family going nuts about what celebrities do.

Sailing with the Storm

It's that time of the year again. The time when people would say the weather is unbearable. I like to see it as perfect conditions to get you thinking about summer. This painting took me about 3-4 hours in photoshop. I want to do a better job of the clouds but I loved every moment of this one. It felt positive and in a way uplifting as it's a departure from the regular imagery I create and a return to those simple high school painting days when every artist I knew just wanted to create stuff...not to get a job.

Back to winter....

Nobody wants to go outside and everybody up here complains about the weather. It could be worse. It could be much much worse guys. When I was a kid I remember walking in the snow and finding a frozen five dolor bill laying in the ice. Sorry to sound like an old man but my hands at that time had been frozen. I forgot my gloves and lunch at home so I got a stick and dug it out...sometimes things like that happen and when your only 6 years old you know how much you appreciate moments like that regardless of your belief in God or Luck. I also can remember playing king of the hill and having snowball fights. Me I want more snow and just a little bit of those random long ice patches we use to get before some douche bag made road salt a consumer item and now people go nuts with it.

I loved randomly walking and slipping on the ice and then laughing at myself looking up in the sky. I had a winter jacket, snow pants and boots cushioned the fall.

Hey everybody!!! I'm here with a little peak update of my Friends to Game Characters...I may have to up date the grammar on this one as I have been up for 24 hours working and what not. I decided to go back to my roots and begin a crazy adventure in fantasy (my first creative love.) Just a peak. I can't show everything till I'm finished and I can package everything. This is just a close up of the Try-clops and me about to stab it. All will be explained soon. Hope you like it. Remember when I said I draw way to many female characters. Well I'm glad to say it's no longer a habit I struggle with. Sure I still draw the ladies but I have discovered my balance and I am sticking to it. The media has been drastically painting a grim picture of this disaster which it truly is. However It's not helping me decide on wether to do anything about it. I'm the type that questions the role of the media. I find it undoubtedly interesting when situations like this happen because it demonstrates the true purpose of the media which to me is to raise "public awareness". The manner they go about bringing the news these days can be seen as an overkill of insensitivity to the issues they are reporting on. Therefore people who are on the entertainment binge will cast a blind eye on these issues as they develop. I have to admit I feel very impotent and sort of guilty that I haven't done anything to help. I have so much issues with the idea of trusting money to total corporate strangers. I asked a friend who's mother is missing on the island if I could give money or anything to help him. I could never know exactly how he feels and can only imagine the emotions going through his mind. He told me to do what I could.....If I was able I would just go to Haiti but at the moment I decided to do all that I can and I will continue to do so.

I need to Kick the Habit

"Calvin...what is your problem. 6 years out of college and your still drawing chicks all the time. What happened to musclemen badass characters, 3D models and over all awesomeness?" a friend asked me. They opened my mind to how much I have not grown in the direction I wanted to be in. Many of you know I wanted to create comics or be somewhere stable in the CG industry and at first I thought it would be a piece of cake. I never really knew how much time and energy it would take out of my life to put in the work I needed to land a kick ass job until now. 6 years later and I'm stilll at the level I started. Well some may argue I have grown but I don't see that growth and other opinion's don't matter when I need to kick some bad habits.

Bad Habit 1: I draw way to many female characters!
Now I'm not saying the paintings I've done in the past are no good.... however has it got me work. Nope. I sure have alot of teenage boys checking out my work thats for sure so I have a fan base but is it something I could stand on. Not if the next badass talented artist comes around and creates more attractive paintings then mine. (which has already happened first example in my mind is the pepper project)

Bad Habit 2: I have no idea what I want to do but i'll jump in a job and end up leaving because I don't like it.
I have done it in the past and pissed of many people for bailing from a logo project or a flyer project. I did not study graphic design. I just know a couple of tricks thanks to the internet and my attention to detail.

Bad Habit 3: I don't do thumbnail sketches of my work anymore before jumping into the final painting/drawing.
I don't know when I stopped thumb nailing but there was a time when I was fresh out of college and I loved showing off my ruff work and the critiques I would receive from people....I think with the computer (being so sexy and easy to use...) control Z has become my eraser.

In order for me to get my career out of Beginner mode and into entry level I have to think ahead and move into a professional standing...I have to get intense with creativity and organized with presentation.

I started working on a comic like 4 years ago which i'm still writing right now. It's easy to do a webcomic but to make an actual believable world is a different story. My challenge right now is create a believable fantasy world from scratch. I will kick my habits. I will only accept a graphic jobs for character based logo illustrations or they offer to pay me 2000 up front and 7000 when finished. I will jump into intense thumbnail sketches and focus on professional process to help raise employer eyebrows to my skillz. I will.....tone down on drawing and posting only hot chicks.
...maybe a old lady...some fat chicks or 2.

Batsu Ichimonji face study

It's the 5th day into the new year and I've been feeling the positive vibes. So I felt it would be safe to explore and get rid of a little frustration from last year. Thats what I poured into the expresion of Batsu Ichimonji face. (my version is on the left)

I've been checking out character designs from all over and I wanted to try and practice some of it. So this weeks challenge is to create 4 characters from scratch with the look and feel of a professional game and style. Rival Schools is one of those games that alot of my friends loved. I would love to study the artist who created them.

I think his name is....Hideaki Itsuno however I could be mistaken.

If anyone is out there and can help me confirm that so I can credit him....it would be very appreciated.

The final painting of this year and you guessed it...it's a chick. This is the last day of 2009 and I am looking forward what 2010 holds for me creatively. I feel like this last year has been one of short lived emotional ups followed by huge almost unbearable creative downs. Looking back at the year I know deep down that I could have had a better one and the reason it sucked was my doing and a sad result of my choices. Learning from those mistakes I decided to push the last month with a positive creative spin and I'm proud that I'm leaving this year on a high note and making way for a productive and abundantly creative new year.

Even though this is another fanboy attempt I believe this is one of my best paintings and I would like to work on more like this in the new year. Natsu Ayuhara is one of my favorite characters from Rival Schools. I never had a chance to play the game enough to say I'm a big fan of it. However Capcom has some really amazing character designers working for them and I find myself looking more at their characters then any other gamer developer...for now. Blizard, Namco, and Squarenix I glance at from time to time but it's the pure ridiculousness of capcom's anatomy and colors that draw me in to their work.

I know that I'm working on a good painting if time disappears and I drift into a this creative "focus" until I finish early in the morning. I am glad I took my time working on Natsu because she is my number 1 favorite painting of this year. LOL I thought that Sakura and Karin would be the last girls I drew this year...but the urge to paint beautiful empowered women just keeps jumping in my mind.

I had a great christmas with my family and I can't wait to celebrate the completion of 2009 aka my worst creative year ever. Seriously guys I could have down so much more. What motivated me to push a little harder this last bit of the year was Bobby Chiu. He came up with the Chiu Stream and I am so thankful he came up with that idea. Also I'd like to thank my uncle and his twin Tag Team duo for kicking my ass and pushing me to create. God knows had I not had them taking time out to check on me I would have given up completely.

I'm gonna chat some more later but I figured I'd just drop my painting off now just in case I don't have time later.

I love capcom's character designs and I can't get enough of street fighter. Here is my rendition of Karin and Sakura. I remember seeing girls like them in high school who hated and fought each other on a daily bases. This painting depicts them as best friends something I think that they truly are if they get past the fighting. Sometimes our worst enemies are mirror reflections of our fears. These 2 characters have many similarities and I wanted to express that. Some people will notice a change in Karin's hair. Yes I did that on purpose apart of me was lazy and didn't want to paint her ridiculous goldilocks. Then after I added the black headband to show how they have accepted their differences.

Today is the first snow fall where I live and also the first time I'm offering a free download of one of my mixes. I'm not a professional Djay. I love creating and if you know me well you know I like to jump into new and old things. I've been a fan of drum & bass and djay culture since I was a kid. I only started getting more and more into dnb in the last 5 years thanks to rap music sucking and house music sounding more and more like poo. DnB is headed that direction in my opinion among other things but it hasn't made the bang in Toronto that would build the strong fan base it needs to start sounding like poo. I still feel weird playing it to people and thats a good thing.

I want to hear more broken beats now that my hunger for dnb is almost satisfied. Dub step and Garage and Grime and Lofi etc balablahbaaaalah.

Corporations, Bad and Good ideas

Good ideas began when the universe was created. Good ideas sustained all life and nurtured it. Millions of years later on a planet called earth. Sometime after someone came up with the first Bad idea on that planet. A mind revolution began to destroy the need to be governed and the eye of wisdom began to open on the human beings. Chaos of control loomed closer and the leaders of the humans began to need a stronger sense of security. They feared the loss of their leadership. One of the leaders had an Idea to create a corporation in order to combine every single human being together and govern them as one. The leader also proposed set of rules like keeping the leadership within their bloodline and never mixing with anyone. That leader was very good at word sorcery and knew the other leaders who lacked wisdom would fall into the trap.

The greedy leaders decided the corporation was born and began slaughtering the idea of mental freedom. They burned books and killed many defenseless wise men, women and children. Some of the leaders disagreed with the lust to control and passed the true knowledge to the people who needed it so much. When this happened a great many of people considered the corporations a bad idea. They all fought and rebelled against each other only to further the entanglement of themselves into more bad ideas.

Some years later humans saw it's corporations needed Good ideas. Good ideas brought people closer together. The human beings after years of mental destruction had made it easy for their leaders to force compliance. The corporations all payed people to come up with Good Ideas. Some people began to feel their ideas where left out of the plan. In order to avoid another awakening the leaders at the top created Capitalism.

Capitalism was created to take care of the people who worked in private corporations and stuck to the plan. Capitalism was yet another bad idea as the control over trade and industry was passed to shadow figures who hoarded it's profits. More and more human beings began to feel left out. Rather then sharing and building people began to steal and destroy.

The Corporations came up with an idea to place prices on the good ideas they didn't create and grant people authority to use them. This idea was called patents. This transformed ideas into resources and launched a new wave of attack on mental freedom.

Bad ideas began to emerge tearing people apart in legal feuds. Most Good ideas had been hidden in fear of patent law enforcement. Ideas have always been able to break out in other peoples minds and many fell victim to using an idea that someone in the corporations had already patent.

Bad ideas began to disguise themselves as Good ideas. Corporations decided to label human beings as well as their products. Someone had a bright idea that the label system was a bad idea. The corporations placed people with bad ideas as C.E.O.'s. Bad Ideas generated lots of money for the corporations as they developed products that satisfied their consumers and pushed the global plan toward one order.
Good ideas no longer could supply the corporations with money but ended up waking people towards universal freedom. One day to protect the corporations everyone with good ideas was fired. The corporations under the power of bad ideas declared ideas should only be used to make money for the corporations. Money continued the bad idea of capitalism and pumped it's veins of global control. Keeping the dream alive.....however?

Staying alive needed Good ideas and in order to create Good ideas one needs brains that are free to think for themselves. Corporations in their massive greed no longer have the brains. They fired everybody who created good ideas and killed the trust of those who could create Greater ideas.

Without the brains corporations created more and more bad ideas like a zombie infecting more and more people with the control virus from the bad ideas. The people who had good ideas decided that capitalism and corporations was a bad idea. They felt something moving in their minds. An open feeling not felt since before the first bad idea. The idea that they are in control of themselves and are free to come up with good ideas.

The corporations knew this and payed they're people to come up with ideas to get rid of the good ideas. It was too late because now after they tried there best to avoid awakening they forgot to notice that ideas are not from our planet or our universe. Ideas are our universe they are what creates and destroys us. When the corporations created the internet to help advance the military communication. They did not consider the bad idea it was if the internet got into the hands of the people they tried to control.

The corporations with their power slipping began to attack the people with frantic ideas. They created ideas of fear and terror tightening it's hold on the now awakened minds of the earth. For sometime the mind tricks worked. Most humans lacking the wisdom of they're heart fell into the mind traps willingly unable to see how similar they are to the people they put in control. The leaders knew they couldn't stop the awakening and it continued to bring life to people left in the dark with good ideas.

Even those considered to be savage uneducated animals opened up to the good ideas. New and better ideas jumped in and out of peoples minds and many began to see the plan of the corporations to privately control everyone. The people began to march not on the streets not on the television but in their own minds where the battle has been all their lives. They evicted every selfish thought and unearthed every fear that was programed and faced it. The earth year that happened was 2009. Filled with some of the most hardest choices in our human history.

The earth is going to show it's children why it is without the need of the corporations. The corporations had so many bad ideas and killed countless of earthlings in many ways in order to keep the good ideas from spreading. The good ideas you hold within your heart.

The only good idea created by the corporations was when it decided to comply with the laws of the universe. If you look at the history you see how it was a good idea to comply. One of those best known Good ideas to human beings is Heaven or the idea of traveling space. The corporations have been doing an ok job of getting out there and bringing it to us for years but will never reach the heights that my ancestors and your ancestors have reached so long ago. The limits they see have been broken by wiser beings so long ago.

Corporations with their bad ideas can be destroyed with ease but Good Ideas are forever.
An ignorant mind can't advance but a informed thinker has no limits.

Focusing on negatives brings more focus on the positive as they raise together as a whole. It is naive to think that both are not connected.

Therefore when someone becomes aware of this they do what they can to understand it. Writing blogs like this will help others eventually but I can understand why people don't get it. Not many people enter the fearful dimensions of darkness that are parallel to our world. Alot of people can't face our shadow or understand it's mystery. Not everyone is mixed with both worlds therefore they try their best to avoid experiencing and dealing with the other.I have been in the middle my whole life. I've lost and won alot of things. I've seen both sides and the benefits and dangers both have.

Having a healthy understanding of reality brings one inner peace. Inner peace is essential to enlightenment. Hidden emotions rob you of yourself. Out-flowing negative energy currents allows one to be at peace and understand themselves and make room for light to enter. If freedom is an illusion then our world has never been civilized and can never understand it.

Only the courageous ones walk the lone path in order to bring about the change they see that needs to happen. Our world needs to be united, informed and understood in order to further our future. Not for control or for power but for peace and abundance. If some wish for our physicality to continue to manifest on this earth we need to define our positives and negatives so we can have a steady direction.

"Feardom" is controlled Freedom

Theme parks and most public gatherings make me question reality. Sometimes I wonder why I feel alone in a busy crowd even when I'm with friends.
How we are each treated like cattle and placed in line ups leading to a machine. Then on this chain machine we are swung and shaken violently without control. Our stomachs begin to feel the disharmony as our minds except a fake and deformed feeling of freedom. Feardom is what I would rather call it.
When I hear screaming children being dragged into a grocery store by their silent miserable mother I wonder who is the real victim. Is it the mother who views her child's behavior as misbehaving or is it the child screaming for freedom. Is the child screaming to warn mother of most of the food purchased at a grocery store. How it has been systematically modified to destroy our genetic code, provide and nourish slave mentality and bring pointless waste to our home and environment. Could it be that the child at only 2 years old understands who we truly are as human beings and is constantly being poisoned by Feardom and the process of initiation.

Sometimes I feel like I have mental damage that leads me to think negatively about our society. When I am open to this most people believe me to be sharing in a collective human emotion called doubt. Just like the cows being lead into a slaughter machine I'm sure we humans think some sort of doubt about whats really going on. Unfortunately we are to lazy and absorbed in our controlled freedom by the time most of us are aware we are already strapped in to the machine and screaming for our lives.

Do we really come to this earth to experience this? Or am I just getting old and excitement for me will soon be bingo, murder she wrote and doctors.

I think I'm over killing the abstract here but I really like this one. I went completely crazy while creating this. I happened to be around the tv with an episode of "The Hilarious House of Frightonstien". My grandmother saw this and thought the subject was Wolfman until she saw he had breast. I'm starting to wonder why the majority of art I post depicts females. I bet people think I can't draw men at all.

This is the latest portrait painting since I got my new sexy tablet.
The screen is 8x5 inches unlike my old one which I drew on 50% of the 3x4 screen.
I'm enjoying the freedom of strokes allowing my hand to take advantage of a screen alot like the size of a piece of paper. Hope you guys enjoy it.

Can isolation be one of my worst guilty pleasures or am I just not happy with my surroundings. I love disappearing from everybody and going into my own world where I create whatever and enjoy the process of creation. Reason tends to leave my mind and the only thing that matter is that stroke of my pencil or the silent humming of my computer while i work. (back in my PC days...i'm use a Mac now) Every once in a while I long to just go somewhere and the only way i can get there in my mind is by using the cheap but effective technology around me. Recently I've been attempting to create landscapes that look more like real canvas paintings rather then digital whatevers. I think this is in response to me not really enjoying the idea of being cut off from the artistic comunity.
I feel like I'm just wasting away with all this practice and i need to attack a challenge. Problem is when a challenge reveals it's face I back down in fear of failing or being consumed. I think this is why I've been faced with boring unchallenging work latly. I can't seem to want to enjoy designing a logo for some little money hungry skeem. I beleive my talent is needed elsewhere....but like Gohan if you watched Dragon Ballz it scares the crap out of me how amazing my talent is. This is why I took up isolation. I really want to know myself and where I'm going truely before I attack these challenges. I stopped posting my art on sites that matter like cgtalk, concept.org and 3dtotal and now I realize how that mite not have been the right choice. Instead i posted on Deviant art, Myspace and facebook hoping to find that chalenge I was looking for. Which at first didn't show up. So instead I focused and learned more about what people liked and what they didn't like stylewise. After a while I started to demand opinions from people who didn't know anything or understood exactly what and how I was creating my work. People couldn't tell the difference between a digital image and a scaned image. I need some constructive professional analysis of my work. I need to overcome my fear of being told what i did was wrong.

I missed Nuit Blanche again. I have no idea what the celebration is about but for some reason I'm always thought about after it's over. Anyway Fall is here and I can't wait for winter. Most people are into one particular season.
I have come to realize that the seasons I tend to like more are Spring and Autumn here in the Gta.....Winter and Summer are still cool but I believe that the Air quality is at it's best between these seasons......I'm not a huge fan of smog but it's helpful...in some way...don't ask me what it would be....but i'm sure a real scientist can prove it....but i'm also sure it would be thought as weird science.....I have a feeling I've lost some of you. Kinda reminds me of politics.
Have you ever notice that Steven Harper uses some sort of jedi mind trick hand wave when he's been speaking lately...i did. It doesn't work on me. I sat down to watch the news...something I hate doing....and heres comes buddy infront of cameras at a playschool. I happend to notice that there was no ethnic children playing in the backgound.
I'm still lost on who to vote for. Even after looking for information on all parties....all of them are interested in this economic situation that is brewing. There are more things going on and I'm not surprised nobody cares. Most of the brains of Canada's people are on auto pilate...lead by people who pay them who are lead by people who pays those people and so on and so forth. Me and my grandma had a laugh about my idea to solve the economic crisis....it was a childish idea I rather not share.

A long time ago....say 2 days I thought i would collapse before the weekend was over. I'm really becoming aware of affirmations and how it effects the mind. Had I not told myself I would have a good day in the mirror before the 3 day battle began...i don't think I would have survived. I also could have missed alot of inspirational little things without the consistent murmuring of little affirmations along the way. When i felt the little pinch of pressure getting close I would breath and let air flow. It's funny how it works...I tend to think that positive thinking is just one part of the massive spectrum of true health. For me to truly be in control of what I want to happen in my life I have to let it be known. Otherwise things will constantly happen positive or negative and I end up surprised. Which brings me to a deeper understanding of prayer or hypnosis.....i feel like they share the same brain patterns.

I was able to hang out and meet with some really talented artists at the Street Fighter tribute Book Party shindig palozza...thing. Heres some photos from the event. I had a great time geeking it out with some of these mad talented artists. I could really feel the energy in the room. Which brings me to my interest in the building itself. I over heard during set up that the venue had been used for a couple of years by the Vampire Social club. Not sure if you can tell but the
the atmosphere before the event was really high end borderline Gothic before i helped ruin it with the posting of Street Fighter posters.
Two projectors and a wide screen Tv had people mashing buttons like crazy. I got to see Alvin Lee who came through and drew up a storm. I would like to be called a machine one day while I'm drawing and sketching my 5th professional quality sketch after 2 hours. it was really cool to witness that again. Cameron Stewart gave me some helpful tips about coloring and told me that one of the best ways to get professional work is to publish your own book. Which is a Goal I've already had and really a finish line I can visualize. Before everything popped off I managed to talk to 2 guys my age that I'm really impressed by their work. Saejin Oh and Mark Sinclair are really quiet modest individuals that you wouldn't expect to be power house artists poppin off some consistant hot shit. I was sitting there at our table asking them question after question. I started to realize that I already knew the answers I was seeking which they may have sensed to. I should have talked more about life topics instead of all that professional path business but i don't regret how I acted.....I really needed to be a fan for a day agian. I'm really inspired and thankful I was able to attend this event. I may volunteer again if my schedule is clear.

I'm proud to say that today I feel brand new....and the universe is with me on this.

I'm reading this article right now in the globe and mail responding to Steve Harper's comment about the art industry. The writer claims that the arts are a huge part of our economy. With that said...where are the jobs....ummm anyway.

I think you should read this article before my next post. I'm working on it as I write...it's a political drawing sorta like my Micheal Bay illustration.

I thought the article is was a pretty good read.

"I suggest that considering the huge amount of energy we spend on creative activity, to be creative is “ordinary.” It is an age-long and normal human characteristic: All children are born creative. It's the lack of any appreciation of these activities that is not ordinary. Mr. Harper has demonstrated that he has no knowledge of, or respect for, the capacities and interests of “ordinary people.” He's the “niche interest.” Not us."

Some Goals of mine

ok everybody..i'm putting this out to the Universe.

I want to have a clear and present direction for the comic before the end of September. so that i can work on a page a day. I want to save enough money to travel to for a bit...no idea where but i just want to travel.

I also want to gather like minded artists and writers to join me....or end up joining a like minded team

I have a Great job now.... it gives me enough time to completely focus on my art without going hungry. But I want to be able to put more time into art without feeling the effects of an empty stomach.

I never publicly announced or posted my goals in the past because I was affraid of failing them. Everybody knows I'm on the path to becoming an artist but what exactly is an artist...am I already an artist. Everybody always says my art will get me paid...but i'm broke...has that stopped me from doing it anyway. A person who produces paintings or drawings as a profession or hobby is still an artist regardless of how huge their bank account is. A person who practices any of the various creative arts, such as a sculptor, a novelist, poet, musician or filmmaker are all Artist. A person skilled at a particular task or occupation such as a surgeon with the scalpel is an artist. A performer, a singer, actor or dancer, a habitual practitioner of a specified reprehensible activity are all artists.

Do you know that art has everything to do with life?

I think it's easier to bury because people forget it but it always digs itself out.
People think that they aren't artists but in my mind we all are.
Art has everything to do with us...just likes sports science and technology.
Why don't people see that?

So my uncle passed through and told me about a magazine called Computer Arts. The magazine is pretty cool it has lots of stuff you can read to learn tricks and skills and such. I really appreciate artists who share technical work flows and post tutorials. To me the best teacher of technique is repetition. It allows you to come up with your own theories and remains fun....till you run into problems. My latest piece "Smoker" expresses that frustration. I painted and repainted it so many times that I got fed up and went stylized. even though i like it it still seems rushed. I explained this to my Uncle and he suggested working more on still life and drawing inanimate objects. It's kinda hard to focus on illustrating at home because distractions are everywhere. I need to either put a lock on my room door or go on a sketch journey and find a spot to sketch.

I wonder how many people start their blogs with "So it's been a while since i've been on here" and if the percentage is high then it's almost pointless to state the obvious.
